about Lareau Lareau (pronounced La Row) is a rock band that has explored original sound from its' inception evolving as it invented an individualistic musical motif. The goal from the outset was to create solid song structure that would hold up on the concert stage. Based in the Jamestown area of Western New York and the Warren area of Pennsylvania, Lareau is stylistically reminiscent of acts Ben Folds Five, The Dave Matthews Band, Three Doors Down and Ben Harper. Originally from Kentucky, Larry Lareau, the youngest of five boys, has been playing piano since age seven, cello since age 10, and sang opera professionally. Upon his family relocating to the northeast, he played in a myriad of bands and was heavily influenced by the Beatles, Moody Blues, Elton John, and Billy Joel. Larry proceeded to write over 200 songs and met drummer Darrin Payne at a recording session. With only one solo demo to his credit, which he promoted by touring Germany, Lareau tossed around the idea of forming a group with Payne, a classically-trained pianist who just loved banging on the drums. Payne's drumming influences include Genesis, Asia, Journey, and Styx. Guitarist Pete Gool's influences include David Bowie, Soft Cell, Depeche Mode, guitarist Steve Stevens, U2, Adrian Belew, and Van Halen. Bassist Roger Christopherson and keyboardist Anthony Brown rounded out the group, enabling Lareau to flesh out his universally appealing keyboard-based ballads and energetic rock tunes in a way he couldn't do on his own. The unique spin that LAREAU presents emanates from the members' vast array of musical experiences and diverse musical tastes. What Shoppers Have To Say About LAREAU's Changes: Reviewer - Terrance Clinton: Yeah, Baby! That's the way poppa likes it. Go baby, GO! Just got my copy of "CHANGES" by Lareau and boy did they make a whopper of a mistake on this one. They should have called it "CHARGES" because it's full of high-voltage energy. As I see it, there are two reasons to get this one, Larry Lareau's lyrics and Darren Payne's drums. The guy's got classical music training AND perfect rhythm, which is crucial during the critical times of my day. Golly-wolly he's good. I like to crank up the music and watch CNN with the sound turned off. No kidding. Reviewer - Tango Bravo: As the Blues Travelers once said "the hook brings you back". This album is constantly in my CD player. Excellent arrangements with thought provoking lyrics and excellent sound. Something about Larry Lareau's voice makes you NEED to sing along. This band is a hidden gem. I'm just waiting for arena's full of people to shout "I should not be drinkin!!". The first song gets its hooks into you right away, making you want to hear every song on the CD. If you love contemporary rock or EMO, this album MUST be part of your collection. Reviewer - George Fletcher: Creative, well written songs. I find myself humming some of these very accessible melodies and have to think hard where I heard them. I highly recommend it! * * *
