About Amy Yassinger
Amy Yassinger is a fresh-faced, poised, and professional Jazz vocalist on Warrior Records, Nicknamed the "jazz singer" by her peers, she been building her singing career for a decade.
As a bandleader and recording artist, Amy's music has been heard in festivals, events, and cruises both in America and overseas. She stands apart from other Jazz vocalists in her age group, due to her versatility and knack for dissecting a song to make it her own. In addition to singing the classics of the Great American Songbook, Amy can nail contemporary songs effortlessly. Not only can she improvise over a melody, but she can take any ballad and rip your heart out.
Born and raised in Chicago, Amy discovered her passion for Jazz as a teenager after having spent a summer at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Her Jazz studies continued at the University of Miami in Florida, followed by a Master's Degree from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Amy branches out into other genres of music as more opportunities have come her way, but always holds onto her love for Jazz. She has appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" as a backup vocalist for Charice Pompengco and Usher. She is regularly seen performing with her own ensemble and as the lead vocalist for The Shout Section Big Band.
Amy's debut album, "Sometimes I'm Happy," features the unparalleled talents of Jeremy Kahn on piano, George Fludas on drums, John Tate on bass, Doug Rosenberg on Saxophone, and Chris Siebold on guitar. The release has received rave reviews and radio play in the Chicago area. When not performing or recording in Chicago, Amy works as an educator, teaching private voice students.
